Chapter 1. Instrument Summary

Accumulator Servicing Tables

The following tables show the order in which the EPD data system reads the CMS rate accumulators in both the present design and the proposed new design. The three existing tables, L, J, and J', will be replaced by two tables, L and C. The L table is the same for both designs, and will therefore not be uploaded via RAM patch in the new design. The new C table (for "CMS" table) will be identical to the present L table, except for the locations indicated in bold.  Note that if the new C table could not be loaded for some reason, we could still read all the CMS rates except for TAC counts and TH1.

The tables are actually a map of the RAM locations where the accumulator servicing is performed. Each accumulator is identified by a one byte code, followed by three bytes for the accumulator count data. The channel name appears next to the four byte group for easier identification. The table is read starting at the upper left position and going down each column; the HEX value C1 appears at the end of each table as a stop flag for the data system DMA controller.
